Desiree Rosalee
I am 20 years old and I am currently employed at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, CA. I am the camp counselor for children between the ages of 6 months to 12 years. I also work as a lifeguard at their pools and work at the front desk in the athletic club. I graduated in 2008 from Temecula Valley High School where I swam for 3 years, played water polo, basketball and softball. While in High School, I worked at the local southwest family YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor for three consecutive summers. After I graduated, I attended Palomar Community College for a year. During this time, I was employed at the Escondido Humane Society. I have currently been at my most recent job for 9 months and have many goals and expectations of myself for the next couple of years. I plan to continue with school and receive my AA degree and work toward becoming an EMT. I am a hard working, determined and open minded individual. Away from my work life, I enjoy swimming, snowboarding, camping, surfing and going to the beach. I plan to take advantage of what life has to offer. Watch out, here I come!

Diana Blanco, Age 23
The last thing Diana wanted to do when she was eight was learn how to swim. However, thanks to very determined parents and some amazingly patient swim instructors that was exactly what she did. She now spends summers attempting to instill the same confidence and love of the water that her swim instructors instilled in her. She has been lifeguarding for four years and teaching swim lessons for five. Diana decided to take her love of teaching to a full time level and got her teaching credentials this past January. In her spare time she enjoys reading, horseback riding, dancing and attempting to master the fine art of making edible sourdough bread.

Elizabeth Diane Hartley
I am 17 year old and a senior at Nikiski High School. I live on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Some of the many things that I do on my own time are babysitting, which I enjoy very much. It's fun to play with the kids and act as if I.m their age. I also really enjoy working at my church, where my dad is the pastor for Nikiski Nazarene Church. I love working with the little kids and just helping them out. I am a Christian and I strive to let Christ shine through me in everything I do. Other things I really enjoy are playing some types of sports. My favorite is basketball. I played on our school team for a couple of years, however, now I just do it for fun. Ever since I was little, my dream was to be an elementary school teacher. As soon as I graduate high school, I would like o pursue my college degree immediately. Although Alaska is a great state with a small town community feeling and people really care for one another, I would like some adventure. My plan is to attend an out of state college, most likely in California, so that I can begin to achieve my dreams.

Evan Power
My name is Evan Power I am eighteen years old I recently graduated from Murrieta Valley High School. I have been lifeguarding for three years, and have enjoyed the experience it has brought to me. Lifeguarding is a great job to have as well as the life skills it teaches. As I became more involved in lifeguarding I obtained my lifeguard instructorship (LGI) as well as my water safety instructorship (WSI), and a CPR instructorship. In the future I plan to major in criminal justice and become a police officer.

Angela "Angel" Johnson
Angela “Angel” Johnson, is a bubbly 26 year old who loves life! She found her passion for the water at 5 months old, thanks to her mother who gently placed her in her Grandma’s swimming pool. This transformed her from baby to swim champion giving her the love for the water from the start!  Angela swam for TEMEC Swim Club from the age of 7 and was a 3-year Lettermen in Varsity Swimming for Temecula Valley High School.  At 12 years old she become a Jr. Lifegurad for the City of Temecula and at 15 years old become a full-fledged Lifeguard.  At 17 years old, Angela decided to trade in her whistle and lifeguard tube and get her gills wet again by teaching children of all ages the art of swimming.  Since then, Angela has remained an American Red Cross Swim Instructor for the past 9 summers!  In  between saving lives and living in the water, Angela has managed to grow legs and venture out onto land.  In the summer of 2007, she received her Associates degree in Multimedia at Mt. San Jacinto Community College.  She has directed, produced, and edited her own short films while building a photography portfolio.  She has worked for Sonshine Preschool, Solana Beach School District and currently works at Kindercare Learning Center in Temecula as the Learning Adventure Teacher.  While Angela is busy working as a preschool teacher, she is also finishing up her last year at Cal State University San Marcos, with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Women Studies.  Angela hopes that one day she can trade in her swim fins for high heals and business suites and work as a lawyer. Until that day comes, Angela will continue to live as a free spirited mermaid teaching and encouraging children in the water!
